Tatreez is not simply a craft, but a means of documenting our stories and history. Palestinian women have always embroidered what they saw around them.
Preserving the art of tatreez is not just about stitching the same motifs over and over again. Engaging with our culture is a constant process of reinvention and building off of previous generations. Designing your own cross-stitch motifs is one way to make the practice of tatreez your own. It is a way to tell your story and the stories of those around you.
This kit provides you with everything you need to start designing and stitching your own tatreez motifs.
Included in the kit:
- An instruction card with prompts to boost your creativity and a curated selection of motifs from Tirazain.com for inspiration
- A pocket-sized graph paper notebook hand-stamped with a tatreez motif to document your designs
- A pencil
- A marker
- An eraser
- 2 small skeins of botanically dyed cotton embroidery thread (~3-5 meters each)
- 1-2 small pieces of aida cloth to test out some of your designs
- A small organza or cloth drawstring pouch, making this the perfect gift for your favorite tatreezer!

Description
With each item I include in my kits and packaging, I do what I can to purchase ethically by checking BDS lists, supporting small shops and suppliers, acquiring like-new secondhand materials from estate sales and thrift stores, and making some of the items myself. I intentionally do not purchase thread or supplies from DMC.
***Note on botanical dyes: Natural dyes are not the same as synthetic dyes. While I use a mordant as a fixative for most dyes, and other makers that I purchase thread from do the same, botanical dyes, by nature, will likely fade or change over time. I use botanical dyes on all threads and all aida cloth colors, with the exception of black and white.

Shipping Policy
Items such as Tatreez Kits are made to order and will require the most processing time before shipping, typically 1-2 weeks.
Embroidery supplies and other ready-made items will usually be ready to ship within a week.
If you have selected a customization option (e.g. custom embroidered pouch), allow for an extra 1-2 days of processing time.
All items are shipped via USPS Ground Advantage which will take about 2-5 business days to arrive once shipped.
Refund Policy
No refunds for digital items (e.g. embroidery patterns, printable coloring pages, etc.) and custom orders. No partial refunds for Tatreez Kits.
All other items are eligible for returns and refunds under the following conditions:
- Items must be returned within 14 days of delivery.
- Buyer is responsible for cost of shipping.
- Items must be unopened, unused, and in their original condition
